U.S. Housing Starts Rise in February

U.S. housing starts in February were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.288 million, up 3% from the revised January rate and 6.2% above the comparable month in 2016. Single-family starts increased 6.5% from January to 872,000.

Building permits in February totaled a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.213 million, 6.2% below the revised January rate but 4.4% higher than the same period a year earlier.  Single-family authorizations were up 3.1% from January to 832,000. See U.S. Census Bureau
