CPA President Quoted in Bloomberg BNA on EPA Regulation

Bloomberg BNA reported late last week that the EPA regulation is slated to be released “within days.”  CPA President Jackson Morrill is quoted in the article stating CPA’s eagerness to see the final rule and the importance of strong enforcement to ensure a level regulatory playing field. CPA’s full statement, much of which was quoted in the article, is provided below:

Barring any substantive changes from the prepublication version, we look forward to the release of the final EPA rule and its implementation.  It’s now imperative that the EPA not rest knowing this regulation is “on the books” because consumers deserve assurance they are purchasing compliant products.   As the Trump administration takes over implementation of this regulation, we would stress that strong enforcement not only provides important health and environmental benefits to the public, but it also strengthens U.S. manufacturing by ensuring a level regulatory playing field and fair competition.  Domestic industries that have made major investments over the last several years are already complying with the rule and should not be disadvantaged by non-compliant products manufactured offshore.
