On February 12, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) published the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) reporting requirements for the 2022-2024 reporting years. The most notable changes from prior years pertain to individual stack reporting for criteria air contaminants (CACs) (i.e., carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, particulate matter (all size fractions), sulphur dioxide, and total volatile organic compounds (VOCs)) and speciated VOCs. Specifically, ECCC reduced the stack height threshold from 50m to 25m, changed the CAC and speciated VOC reporting thresholds, added a stack exit temperature threshold, and included a requirement to list the fuel type used when reporting CACs related to combustion or fuel use. ECCC is expected to conduct training sessions in early 2023 to review these changes with reporters. See 2022-2024 NPRI Reporting Notice. More Info: Kevin Warkentin
