Mexico Manufacturing PMI Improves in January

The seasonally adjusted IHS Markit Mexico Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) in January was 43.0, up 0.6 points from December 2020, despite it being the eleventh straight month of contraction. Lower sales and shutdowns led to another month of decreased factory production and layoffs.

The PMI index is composed of five sub-indices tracking changes in new orders, output, employment, suppliers’ delivery times and stocks of raw materials. A reading above 50 indicates growth.  See IHS Markit
