In May, the seasonally adjusted S&P Global Canada Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) was 52.9, slipping 0.4 points from April but remaining above the 50-growth point for the second consecutive month. Manufacturers reported increases in output and new orders driven by client demand.
The PMI index comprises five sub-indices tracking changes in new orders, output, employment, suppliers’ delivery times, and stocks of raw materials. A reading above 50 indicates growth. See S&P Global
