May Canadian Construction Investment Improves Year-over-Year

May Canadian building construction investment totaled $23.4 billion (CAD), decreasing 0.3% from April but increasing 5.9% from the comparable month last year. Residential construction spending fell 0.5% from April to $16.2 billion, while non-residential totals were up 0.2% to $7.1 billion. Seasonally adjusted single-family investment was 1.9% lower than April at $7.4 billion, while multi-unit levels rose 0.7% to $8.8 billion in May. See Statistics Canada
