U.S. housing starts in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.32 million, decreasing 11.4% from February but 1.9% higher than the comparable month in 2024. Single-family starts fell 14.2% to 940,000 in March.
U.S. building permits were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.48 million, increasing 1.6% from February but dipping 0.2% from March 2024. Single-family authorizations were 2.0% lower than February at 978,000. See U.S. Census Bureau
