U.S. residential furniture factory orders in March jumped 96% above the comparable month in 2020 when many manufacturers were closed but were still 40% over 2019. Year-to-date orders were up 50% over the first three months of 2020 and rose 21% from February.
Furniture shipments rose 34% over March 2020 and grew 13% from February. Year-to-date shipments increased 19% from the same period last year. With new orders still exceeding shipments, backlogs climbed 6% from February and soared 251% higher than the previous year. See Smith Leonard
