March Architectural Billings Index Increases

The March Architecture Billings Index (ABI) rose 2.4 points to 50.4, according to The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Economics & Market Research Group. A score above 50 indicates growth in billings, while a score below 50 means a drop in firm billings. Design contracts shrank from 51.3 in February to 48.9.

March billings were below 50 in all geographic regions except the Midwest. Firms across all sectors continue to experience a decline in billings, with the residential industry having the most significant decrease at 44.2. See AIA
