U.S. housing starts in July were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.24 million, decreasing 6.8% from June and 16.0% lower than the comparable month last year. Single-family starts fell 14.1% to 851,000 in July.
U.S. building permits were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.40 million, down 4.0% from June and 7.0% from July 2023. Single-family authorizations dipped 0.1% from June to 938,000. See U.S. Census Bureau
