Canadian building permits in January dropped 8.8% from December 2021 to $10.11 billion (CAD) but were up 1% from the year-ago period. Residential authorizations fell 11.6% from December to $6.72 billion and were down 5.6% from January 2021. Single-family totals reached $3.42 billion, contracted 3.8% from December and 3.3% lower than the prior year.
