January Architectural Billings Index Remains Below 50

The January Architecture Billings Index (ABI) rose 0.9 points to 49.3, according to The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Economics & Market Research Group. A score above 50 indicates growth in billings, while a score below 50 means a drop in firm billings. Design contracts grew from 50 in December 2022 to 53.4.

January billings were above 50 in all geographic regions except the south. Firms across all sectors continue to experience a decline in billings, with the residential industry continuing to have the most significant decrease at 45.9. See AIA
