Houzz recently released its 2022 U.S. Houzz Kitchen Trends Study, which surveyed 2,380 U.S. homeowners about recent or planned kitchen renovation projects. Major findings include an increase in median spending in 2022, up 14% over the same period in 2021. Kitchen islands continue to grow with nearly 39% of homeowners installing islands over seven feet long, up five points from 2021.
Staying even with 2021, white cabinets were still the most popular choice at 41%, followed by medium wood-tone at 12%. For contrasting-colored islands, blue was the leader at 28%, though medium wood tones jumped five percentage points to 10% in 2022. Shaker style cabinetry increased eight percentage points in 2022 to 64%, with flat and raised panel doors both slipping 4%. Transitional remained the most popular style choice for kitchens at 25%.
