Houzz Q2 Renovation Barometer Published

The Q2 2025 Houzz Renovation Barometer reports for both the construction and architectural and design sectors were mixed. The Barometer tracks residential renovation market expectations and recent business activity in the construction and architectural design services industries.

Within the construction sector, the second quarter Expected Business Activity Indicator decreased six points from Q1 to 59, while the Project Backlog Indicator was 6.4 weeks, 0.1 weeks lower than Q2 2024. The Q1 Recent Business Activity Indicator dropped 12 points from Q4 2024, primarily due to an 18-point drop in project inquiries.

The Q2 2025 Expected Business Activity Indicator fell six points from Q1 2025 to 62 within the architectural and design sectors. The Project Backlog Indicator was 5.7 weeks at the beginning of Q2 2025, 0.1 weeks more than the year-ago period. The Recent Business Activity Indicator rose one point to 59 in Q1 2025 compared to the prior quarter.

The Houzz Renovation Barometer results are determined by an online quarterly survey of U.S. architects and designers with a Houzz account. Scores over 50 indicate that a greater proportion of firms reported quarter-over-quarter increases than those reporting decreases. See Construction Barometer and Architectural and Design Barometer
