Houzz Q2 Renovation Barometer Continues Growth

The recently released Q2 2021 Houzz Renovation Barometer proved that the confidence for renovation activity remained strong following a robust first quarter. The Barometer tracks residential renovation market expectations and recent business activity in the construction and architectural design services industries.

Within the construction sector, the Expected Business Activity Indicator for the second quarter rose 3 points from Q1 to 73 while the Project Backlog Indicator jumped almost a month to 9.3 weeks compared to the same period in 2020. Looking back to Q1, the Recent Business Activity Indicator jumped 11 points to 73 in the second quarter.

Within the architectural and design sector, the Expected Business Activity Indicator for Q2 rose 6 points from Q1 to 74 while the Project Backlog Indicator soared to 8.4 weeks, more than double the number reported in Q2 2020. Compared to Q1, the Recent Business Activity Indicator grew 11 points to 75.

The Houzz Renovation Barometer is an online quarterly survey sent to U.S. businesses with a Houzz profile. The survey garnered responses from 1,497 home-improvement businesses from March 25th through April 8th. See Houzz
