Home Remodeling Activity Increases Sharply

U.S. remodeling activity in the first quarter rose 7 points to 86 from the previous three months and was 38 points higher than the same period in 2020, according to the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Remodeling Market Index (RMI). The current market conditions indicator increased 4 points to 89 and the future market index gained 12 points to 89 compared to the fourth quarter 2020.

The Remodeling Market Index (RMI) is based on a quarterly survey of NAHB remodeler members providing insight on current market conditions and future indicators for the remodeling market. A score over 50 indicates remodelers reporting market activity higher than the previous quarter.  See National Association of Home Builders
