Home Improvement Retailers Post Q2 Sales and Earnings

The world’s two largest home improvement retailers published financial results for the second quarter of 2024.

­­­­­The Home Depot, Atlanta, GA, reported that the second quarter ended July 28 with net quarterly sales of $43.2 billion, up 0.6% over the comparable period in 2023. Net earnings fell 2.1% from the same three months of fiscal year 2023 to $4.6 billion. For six months, net sales dipped 0.7% to $79.6 billion, and net earnings shrunk 4.3% to $8.2 billion over 2023. The Lowe’s Companies, Mooresville, NC, announced the second quarter, which ended August 2, net sales were $23.6 billion, 5.5% below the comparable timeframe in 2023. Net earnings were 10.8% lower at $2.4 billion compared to the second quarter of 2023. For the first two quarters, net sales declined 5.9% to $15.9 billion, and net earnings decreased 16.1% to $4.1 billion from last year. See Lowe’s Company
