In 2019, CPA formed a Task Group to develop a Thermally Fused Laminate (TFL) Panel Standard, the first of its kind in North America. The TFL Task Group, comprised of representatives from 22 stakeholder companies from across the industry, worked tirelessly to develop this voluntary standard to provide a common basis for specifying and using TFL panels manufactured in North America. At the 2025 Spring Meeting, the CPA Board of Directors approved the TFL Standard with an implementation date of May 1.
The voluntary Standard provides a technical definition of TFL panels and sets forth requirements and test methods for surface performance and dimensional properties. The Standard provides an everyday basis for the product’s performance in North America for specifiers utilizing TFL panels and components in various end-use applications.
