U.S. residential furniture factory orders in September dropped 20% from the comparable month in 2020 but were 15% higher than the same month in 2019. Year-to-date orders rose 21% over the first nine months of 2020 and grew 32% from 2019.
Furniture shipments grew 4% over September 2020 and year-to-date totals increased 30% from the same period last year. With new orders still outpacing shipments, backlogs jumped 56% higher than September 2020. See Smith Leonard
