U.S. residential furniture factory orders in July were down 11% from the comparable month in 2020 but were up 24% from the same month in 2019. Year-to-date orders rose 39% over the first seven months of 2020, with 91% of participants reporting increases.

Furniture shipments grew 21% over July 2020 and year-to-date totals jumped 39% from the same period last year. With new orders still outpacing shipments, backlogs surged 108% higher than July 2020 due to lack of materials and labor and freight issues. See Smith Leonard
