U.S. residential furniture factory orders in December 2021 were down 6% from the comparable month in 2020 but were up 19% from the same month in 2019. Year-to-date orders rose 14% over the year of 2020, with 77% of participants reporting increases.
Furniture shipments dropped 2% over December 2020 and year-to-date totals jumped 20% from the same period last year. With new orders still outpacing shipments, backlogs climbed 46% higher than December 2020. See Smith Leonard
