February Canadian Building Permits Continue Growth

Canadian building permits in February were up 9.3% to $11.8 billion (CAD) over January and improved 9.1% from the comparable period in 2023. Residential authorizations rose 7.4% from January and 4.1% from February 2023 to $7.1 billion. Single-family totals were $2.8 billion, climbing 9.6% from January and 5.3% from February 2023. Multi-family levels reached $4.2 billion in February, increasing 6.0% from January and 3.4% from the previous year. Non-residential permits grew 12.3% from the prior month and 17.7% from February 2023 to $4.7 billion.
