EPA Releases Regulatory Agenda and 2022 Priorities

This week, EPA released its fall Regulatory Agenda and Statement of Priorities for 2022. Notable activities and deadlines relevant to the composite panel industry include:

  • Proposed amendments to the Formaldehyde Emission Standards for Composite Wood Products regulations under TSCA to update multiple voluntary consensus standards referenced in the rule that have been updated, superseded, or withdrawn, and to address inspections by accrediting bodies and third-party certifiers at overseas facilities operated by firms subject to EPA’s regulations.
  • Proposed amendments to the Plywood and Composite Wood Panel National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants Residual Risk and Technology Review (PCWP NESHAP RTR) by November 2022 with a final, court-ordered publication deadline by November 2023.
  • Review of the National Ambient Air Quality Standards for Particulate Matter (PM NAAQS) by August 2022.
