On March 29, EPA published in the Federal Register proposed changes to TSCA Title VI the Formaldehyde Emission Standards for Composite Wood Products. The proposal addresses three topics, including: updates to outdated references to voluntary consensus-based standards; authorization for third-party certifiers to conduct remote inspections during unsafe conditions and to utilize contract inspectors; and regulatory modifications to improve the consistency of EPA regulations and those issued by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The changes are largely editorial in nature. EPA will accept comments on the proposal through April 28. CPA will prepare comments generally supportive of the proposed changes.
