The Birmingham Alliance to Stop Pollution, Louisiana Environmental Action Network (LEAN) and Sierra Club filed on October 13, 2020 two petitions regarding the Final Plywood and Composite Wood Products Risk and Technology Review (PCWP RTR) that was issued earlier this summer – a Petition for Reconsideration and a Petition for Review. In the Reconsideration, the petitioners have challenged EPA’s failure to set standards for currently unregulated process units and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs); the use of work practices for safety-related shutdowns and startups and shutdowns of pressurized refiners; and failure to set stronger standards based on the use of low HAP resins. The petitioners have until November 12 to file a statement of issues in support of the Review. CPA will work with the AWC PCWP coalition to track these developments and potentially intervene in the review proceedings. See EPA Petition for Review and EPA Reconsideration Petition.
