This week, CPA testified before the EPA Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals (SACC), which includes scientists who are responsible for reviewing the TSCA risk evaluation for formaldehyde. CPA took the opportunity to explain the industry, the regulatory program under TSCA Title VI for composite wood products, and the role formaldehyde resin systems play in manufacturing composite wood panels. The scientists will meet again this month to hear expert testimony from scientists in the fields of toxicology, epidemiology, and risk assessment who have independently reviewed the EPA draft work product. Afterward, the SACC will prepare comments and recommendations for EPA to consider as the agency prepares a final TSCA risk evaluation, expected in December 2024. See CPA Testimony.
