On January 30, CPA testified before the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) committee that is reviewing the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2022 draft Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) assessment of formaldehyde. The committee is reviewing the draft document to ensure that EPA “adequately and transparently evaluated the scientific literature, used appropriate methods to synthesize the current state-of-the science, and presented conclusions regarding the hazard identification analysis and dose-response analysis of formaldehyde that are supported by the scientific evidence.” EPA will use the IRIS assessment to inform the risk evaluation of formaldehyde under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
CPA’s testimony highlighted the significant efforts already undertaken by the industry to minimize potential risks to human health and the environment from composite panel products. See CPA Statement. More Info: Andy O’Hare
