On October 12, CPA submitted a letter to Canada’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change supporting a proposed amendment to Senate bill S-5, Strengthening Environmental Protection for a Healthier Canada Act. The amendment would require the government to evaluate existing measures and recommend new ones to ensure that manufactured goods entering Canada meet the same environmental requirements imposed on domestic manufacturers. The bill is currently being debated in the House and is expected to be referred to its Standing Committee of Environment and Sustainable Development for detailed review. See CPA letter.
