The U.S. Consumer Confidence Index in September registered at 108.0, increasing 4.4 points from August, according to The Conference Board.  The index measuring current business and labor market conditions, rose 4.3 points to 149.6 in September.  The short-term outlook index for income, business and the labor market climbed 4.5 points from August to 80.3.
