Consumer Confidence Falls Further in September

U.S. consumer confidence in September registered at 109.3, falling 5.9 points from August and the third straight month of declines, according to The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index.  The index measuring current business and labor market conditions dropped 5.5 points from August to 143.4, and the short-term outlook for income, business and the labor market tumbled 6.2 points to 86.6 in September.
