The December 2025 monthly standalone seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of Canadian housing starts in all areas was 282,439 units, up 10.9% from the prior month. The SAAR of urban starts increased 0.5% from November to 246,177, and multiple totals grew 0.9% to 205,450. Single-family levels were 40,727, 1.5% below the prior month. The six-month trend in housing starts was mostly unchanged at 264,428 units in December. The 2025 annual housing starts in all areas were 259,028, 5.6% higher than 2024.
