Canadian building permits totaled $12.9 billion (CAD) in March, decreasing 4.1% from February but up 15.0% from the comparable month last year. Residential authorizations grew 2.0% from the prior month and 30.0% year-over-year to $8.7 billion. Single-family permits totaled $2.8 billion, down 5.3% from February but rising 6.0% from March 2024. Multi-family levels were $5.9 billion in March, improving 5.8% from February and 45.5% from the same month in 2024.
