Canadian building permits totaled $12.0 billion (CAD) in June, 9.0% lower than May but 11.1% above the comparable month last year. Residential authorizations decreased 4.3% from May but grew 3.5% year-over-year to $7.1 billion. Single-family permits totaled $2.4 billion, declining 6.6% from the prior month and down 10.9% from June 2024. Multi-family levels were $4.6 billion, dipping 3.0% from May while improving 13.2% from the same month last year.
