Canadian building permits in July fell 3.0% from June to $7.8 billion (CAD) and were down 9.6% from the year-ago period. July residential authorizations dropped 6.2% from the prior month to $5.1 billion and decreased 1.4% from the comparable month in 2019. Single-family totals reached $2.2 billion, up 3.9% from June but shrinking 3.1% from the prior year. Multi-family levels were 12.8% lower than June at $2.8 billion and down 0.1% from July 2019.
