Canadian building permits totaled $11.6 billion (CAD) in August, 1.2% lower than July and 2.4% below the comparable month last year. Residential authorizations decreased 2.4% from July and 4.6% year-over-year to $7.0 billion. Single-family permits totaled $2.5 billion, down 4.3% from the prior month and 10.5% from August 2024. Multi-family levels were $4.5 billion, declining 1.3% from July and 1.0% from the same month last year.
