Canadian Building Permits Decrease in September

Canadian building permits in September dropped 17.5% from August to $10.2 billion (CAD) and were 2.5% lower than the year-ago period. Residential authorizations fell 15.6% from August to $7 billion and were unchanged from September 2021. Single-family totals reached $3.2 billion, down 7.7% from August and were 5.7% higher than the prior year. Multi-family levels shrank 21.2% from August to $3.9 billion, declining 4.2% from the previous year. See Statistics Canada
