Canadian building permits in February totaled $12.1 billion, down 8.4% from January and 8.6% lower than the comparable month last year.
Residential authorizations rose 1.7% from January to $8.1 billion, while falling 2.8% below year-ago levels. Single-family permits decreased 1.6% month-over-month and 7.2% year- over-year to $2.7 billion. Multi-family permits grew 3.4% from the month prior but were down 0.5% from February 2025 to $5.4 billion.
Non-residential permits totaled $4.0 billion, falling 24.0% from January and 18.6% from February 2025. See Statistics Canada
