The September Architecture Billings Index (ABI) dropped 1.6 points to 51.7, according to The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Economics & Market Research Group. A score above 50 indicates growth in billings. Design contracts decreased from 52.3 in August to 50.7.
September billings were in positive territory for all geographic regions, with the Northeast leading with a score of 54.6. Firms with commercial, industrial and residential specializations experienced a decline in billings, while firms with institutional specialization saw growth with a score of 58.9. See AIA
