Architectural Billings Improve in September

After three straight months of unchanged billings, the Architecture Billings Index (ABI) in September increased 7 points to 47.0, according to The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Economics & Market Research Group. Design contracts rose 2.9 points from August to 48.9.

While September billings increased in all regions, these levels remained below positive territory in all geographies. Firms specializing in multi-family residential continue to increase, charting growth in September at 54.0, while other specialties remained well below positive territory. See AIA
