U.S. housing starts in April were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.36 million, increasing 5.7% from March but 0.6% lower than the comparable month last year. Single-family starts dipped 0.4% to 1.03 million in April.
U.S. building permits were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.44 million, down 3.0% from March and 2.0% from April 2023. Single-family authorizations declined 0.8% from March to 976,000. See U.S. Census Bureau
