U.S. housing starts in April were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.36 million, increasing 1.6% from March but down 1.7% compared to the same month in 2024. Single-family starts fell 2.1% to 927,000 in April.
U.S. building permits were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.41 million, declining 4.7% from March and off 3.2% from April 2024. Single-family authorizations were 5.1% lower than March at 922,000. See U.S. Census Bureau
