April U.S. Housing Starts Dip

U.S. housing starts in April were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.72 million, down 0.2% from the revised March figure but 14.6% higher than the comparable month last year. Single-family starts fell 7.3% from March to 1.1 million.

U.S. building permits in April were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.82 million, shrinking 3.2% from March but up 3.1% from the same month in 2021. Single-family authorizations dropped 4.6% from March to 1.1 million in April. See U.S. Census Bureau
