U.S. residential furniture factory orders in April jumped 239% above the comparable month in 2020 when many manufacturers were closed but were still 30% higher than 2019. Year-to-date orders were up 73% over the first four months of 2020 and up 36% from 2019.
Furniture shipments rose 296% over April 2020 and year-to-date shipments increased 39% from the same period last year. With new orders still exceeding shipments, backlogs climbed 5% from March and soared 266% higher than the previous year. See Smith Leonard
