April U.S. Consumer Confidence Sinks for Fifth Straight Month

U.S. consumer confidence registered at 86.0 in April, decreasing 7.9 points from the adjusted March reading, according to The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index. The index measuring current business and labor market conditions slipped 0.9 points in April to 133.5. The short-term outlook index for the income, business, and labor markets fell 12.5 points from last month to 54.4, significantly below the 80 mark that can indicate a recession and the lowest reading since 2011.
