Canadian building permits totaled $11.7 billion (CAD) in April, 6.6% lower than March and 14.0% below the comparable month last year. Residential authorizations decreased 11.6% from the prior month and 14.6% year-over-year to $7.4 billion. Single-family permits totaled $2.6 billion, dipping 3.1% from March and 1.6% from April 2024. Multi-family levels were $4.7 billion in April, falling 15.7% from March and 20.5% from the same month in 2024.
