U.S. Building Permits Increase in March

U.S. housing starts in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.215 million, down 6.8% from the revised February rate and 9.2% above the comparable month in 2016. Single-family starts decreased 6.2% in March to 875,000.

Building permits in March totaled a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.26 million, 3.6% above the revised February rate and 17% higher than the same period a year earlier.  Single-family authorizations were down 1.1% from February totals to 823,000.  See U.S. Census Bureau
