Canadian Construction Investment Strengthens

Canadian new housing construction in January increased 8.7% to $4 billion over the same period in 2016.  Single-family construction represented almost 50% of residential construction spending for the month.  Apartment construction represented more than one-third of all spending.

Year over year single-family home construction increased 12.1% to $2.1 billion, while apartment building spending rose 4.6% from January 2016 to $1.4 billion.  See Statistics Canada
